Environmental Health Lesson Plan

Objective

Students will understand elements of environmental health, including: lead poisoning and
prevention, natural cleaning remedies, chemical hazards, etc.

Materials

Activity (for M-level)

  1. Start by reviewing the Environmental Health pdf with your student. Help them read through the various slides and stop to review or emphasize any topic that your student has questions about.
  2. Conclude by having your student read through the Lead Fact Sheet. Lead poisoning is when the body becomes contaminated after exposure to lead, and can result in a variety of physical ailments and serious conditions. Be sure to review this with your student, and then read through the worksheet which covers exposure, symptoms, and prevention.
  3. Give your student a copy of the Alternative Household Solutions, so they can begin limiting the amount of toxic chemicals they keep in their home.
