Student of the Month

Yangsoon Park has been with Project Read for 3 years now and says that in that time she has really improved her writing, speaking and listening a lot.  She is confident that she will soon be able to pass her TOEFL test and enroll in college to become a nurse.

Yangsoon is fromSouth Korea, but she has been living here in the States with her daughter for the past four years.  Her daughter (9 years old) loves ice skating and hopes some day to go to the Olympics. Her husband is a police officer inKorea. Yangsoon says of her family “My daughter is my precious treasure and my husband is very gentle and sweet.”

Yangsoon spends a lot of time preparing for the TOEFL test, at school and on her own, and that is what she is working very hard on with her tutor.  Her goal is to pass the TOEFL and go to college to be a nurse.  When she is not studying, she enjoys reading books in English, mingling with people, having parties, and chatting with her friends.

One of her friends told her about Project Read shortly after she came to the States, and she decided she needed to learn English in order to survive here with her family.  She says about Project Read, “I love this program that helps me, someone who really needed to communicate with people in here in English. I am so thankful to this program, tutors, and staffs. I appreciate it. Thanks a lot.”
