Volunteer Options

Volunteer Tutor (English Literacy)

Time Commitment: 3 hours/week, 6-month minimum, 4-hour training, two 1-hour workshops.

Duties: Assist an adult to improve his/her literacy skills by providing individual tutoring.

Locations: All over Utah County. Tutors typically meet with students one-to-one in a public location, such as a library or college campus (Provo City Library, Orem City Library, American Fork Library, BYU, UVSC, Deseret Industries, etc.).

Skills: Patience and a willingness to learn.


Office Volunteer

Time Commitment: As much or as little time as you would like to give

Duties: Assist Project Read staff in the office with daily activities

Location: This task must be performed at the Project Read Office during office hours (M-Th 11:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.)



Literacy Librarian

Time Commitment: 3 hours/week, 3-month minimum

Duties: The librarian will be responsible for the organization and development of the Project Read resources and materials. The librarian will catalogue existing materials, identify gaps, and seek appropriate materials for inclusion in the library.

Location: This task must be performed at the Project Read Office during office hours (M-Th 11:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.)

Skills: Interest or background in literacy and education. Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate well with others. Research skills.
